The Cenozoic Era
CENOZOIC ERA
The Cenozoic era began 65 MYA and has not ended yet because we live in the Cenozoic and we are still alive. The nickname for the Cenozoic is age of mammals and means new life. The climate of the early Cenozoic was much warmer than the present day, and the climate was consistent regardless of the location. The Cenozoic also has the highest point of global warming too. India collided with with Asia. Antarctica moved south to south pole. South America and North America collide to form Central america. India and Asia collide to form the Himalayas. The Americas formed Central America. North America and Eurasia move apart and the Atlantic expands. During the Cenozoic era large groups of mammals like wooly mammoths and sabertooth tigers traveled together. Later in era modern man evolves, and birds used to outnumber mammals. The Neogene period saw a rise in savannas, flowers, and grass. The Cenozoic is continuing today therefore there is no end yet.
